Before you plan your holiday to any destination, it is important to consider the best period to visit it. There are off seasons and there are high tourist seasons you need to be aware about. If you choose the wrong travel period, you could end up regretting everything about the holiday and it could become a disaster. Milan is a beautiful city to explore and it has a number of seasons you need to be aware about. The ideal time to visit Milan is from April to May and September to October. It is the month of Spring which shows a peak in the tourists and the temperature is pleasant. The period between November and March is considered as the off season and the temperatures are really high during this period.

When to visit?

April – May: These are the months of Spring and it is the best time to visit before the summer crowds throng the country. The temperatures might be high during the day but you will notice a little chill in the air in the evening. The temperatures will dip significantly in the night. There will be warm days in the month of May and the daytime will see high temperatures.

June – August: This is a peak season which remains packed with tourists. The temperature is generally high but the humidity will make the city feel hotter. If you want peace and want to explore Italy at your own pace, this is not the right time to visit. It might become uncomfortable due to the crowds. You need to remember that in the month of August, there will be a lot of locals who will plan their summer travel and you will run into more tourists at this point of time than any other period. However, if you plan to visit during this period, book your Milan airport transfer well in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

September – October: This is a real sweet time to visit. The temperatures will drop slightly and the visitors will enjoy a hospitable climate in Italy. However, there is a downside and that is rain. There will be precipitation in the air and you will have to carry an umbrella with you at all times. If you are a fashion enthusiast, keep in mind that the women’s fashion week is held in Milan in September and you can make the most of it.

November – March: This period remains cold and foggy. The temperatures will dip and could go very low in the night. You will have to carry a coat to go around. You might also see rain in the month of November, hence, carry an umbrella at all times.
